About Speed Skate League (SSL)

Speed Skate League is built to make speed skating simpler, easier to access, and better organized for everyone from beginners to pros.

What is SSL?

Speed Skate League (SSL) is exactly what it sounds like β€” a simple, modern way to race speed skating. It is designed to remove confusion, cut down barriers, and make it easier for skaters and families to get involved.

Why SSL Exists

For too long, speed skating has been hard to access. Meets can be difficult to find, registration can be confusing, and too much of the sport has depended on already being connected to a club or being β€œin the system.” SSL is built to fix that.

You should be able to register for a meet online, show up, and have everything ready for you to race.

What Makes SSL Different

SSL is built around simplicity, fairness, and accessibility.

No strict skinsuit requirements. No matching uniform rule for clubs. Sponsors are allowed on uniforms. Affordable athletic gear is welcome. Relays are gone. Instead, SSL replaces unnecessary chaos with cleaner, more exciting events like Pro Division and Mixed Open.

Who SSL Is For

SSL is for the absolute beginner, the serious racer, the elite skater, and the pro β€” and everybody in between. The goal is to create one system where everyone can participate, progress, and race under the same clear structure.

The Goal

Keep it simple. Make it accessible. Let people race.

SSL is powered by SpeedSkateMeet, the software platform used to organize meets, registration, and race day flow.
